New Pinterest board for veg recipes (for congregational gatherings)

We just created a  new Pinterest board for church congregations who want vegan recipes that work well for various church gatherings. This is part of the Compassionate Congregation movement and supports the UUA Ethical Eating Statement of Conscience ‪#‎compassionatecongregations‬

See our new Pinterest board here.

This will be of special interest to Unitarian Universalist (UU) congregations who care about the UUA Food and Environmental Justice Ethical Eating Statement of Conscience that was passed with overwhelming support at the UUA General Assembly in 2011.

This Pinterest board is in support of a new free resource being created to help UU congregations provide more vegan food options at their congregational gatherings.   A free pdf "cookbook and guide" called "Compassionate Congregations: Veg Options for Gracious Gatherings" is being created for the volunteer kitchen crew who may not understand that providing vegetarian options at congregational gatherings still excludes those who are vegan (or who don't eat dairy or eggs or honey for other reasons).  Those volunteers may not realize how easy it is to substitute animal ingredients (such as dairy) with simple plant-based ingredients that still allow them to create delicious dishes appropriate for congregational events.

Many people who are not experienced with vegan cooking don't realize how easy it is to make a vegan alfredo sauce, or a vegan cheese sauce or gravy.  This resource guide will briefly explain "the why and the how" to make dishes vegan, not just vegetarian.  Simply put, making the dishes vegan is the most inclusive approach and is easy and affordable as well.

This free resource is in active development and will be available in May.

Join us over at www.facebook.com/UUVeg for more support on adopting a plant-based diet.
